Director of FinanceBlacksmith Institute is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to solving life-threatening pollution issues in the developing world. A global leader in this field, Blacksmith addresses a critical need to identify and clean up the world’s worst polluted places. Blacksmith focuses on places where human health, especially that of women and children, is most at risk. Based in New York, Blacksmith works cooperatively in partnerships that include governments, the international community, NGOs and local agencies to design and implement innovative, low-cost solutions to save lives. Since 1999, Blacksmith has completed over 50 projects; Blacksmith is currently engaged in over 40 projects in 19 countries. Blacksmith is in the middle of rapid expansion and seeks an experienced Director of Finance to manage all aspects of its reporting and compliance efforts. This new high-level position will work closely with core management on organizational strategy and planning. Responsibilities: - Oversee all financial reporting systems for Blacksmith, across several country platforms, including budgeting, audits, reporting, compliance, etc. - Manage a small staff, in multiple locations, and coordinate effective financial planning and reporting. - Assist in negotiations for USAID and others regarding contract specifics related to overheads, reporting, etc. - Coordinate with the CEO, Director of Programs, and Development team, assisting in strategy and planning. - Ensure high quality reputable reporting to all donors, with timely reports that enhance our reputation and fuel our growth. Requirements: - At least seven years of not-for-profit financial reporting, including direct responsibility in managing large USAID and other donor grants. - Extensive bilateral experience from a financial perspective at senior levels. - A great team player, with a compassionate heart, and enthusiasm for our mission. - Level-headed attitude and ability to deal with high work load in a professional and timely manner. - Great communications skills, efficient, enthusiastic, productive, and flexible The position will be in New York City.
