Substitute Therapeutic Childcare Worker (On Call)This position provides the opportunity to work directly with children in our care helping to foster positive attachment with children and provide a loving, consistent environment where their needs are met. Work with children to help them develop social, emotional, and develpmentally appropriate skills. Therapeutic Childcare Workers participate as part of the team with Clinical Case Managers, Developmental Therapists, and branch Administrative staff to monitor the progress of each child in the program toward meeting goals in their Individual Development Plans. Substitute Therapeutic Childcare Workers fill in when regular staff is on Vacation or other types of leaves, or while we are recruiting for a full time position. Address for Branch: Eli Creekmore Branch Hours are Monday-Friday 7:30 to 4:00. Licensing requires employees to complete training in the transmission and prevention of blood borne pathogens, including HIV/MDS and HBV ( Hepatitis B Virus). Other training topics include CPR and First Aid, as well as programs on child development, cultural relevancy, curriculum development, classroom management and other topics requested by the staff. All teaching staff members are expected to attend trainings unless excused by their supervisor. CHILDHAVEN SUMMARY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Participate with room staff and Program Supervisor in implementation of weekly plans which: incorporates group and individual activities to appropriately meet the developmental needs of young children; and aids individual children in reaching goals outlined in their Individualized Treatment Plans (ITP). Model, interact and build relationships with children in ways that foster the development of attachment, positive self esteem, self confidence, and communication skills. Work with classroom staff to provide consistent classroom and van management and guidance techniques which foster the development of positive self image in children, which include, but are not limited to: setting age appropriate limits, redirection, positive reinforcement, choices, and systematic attention and approval; and encourage the development of conflict resolution and problem solving skills. Demonstrate ongoing attention to children's safety at all times. Observe and record emotional and physical conditions of individual children on a daily basis in several ways, including; daily physical/emotional checklist or CCP, flow notes, incident and injury reports, and other paperwork as necessary. Complete this and all other paperwork in a timely fashion. Interact with parents in a positive, supportive manner at all times by: working with treatment room staff to involve parents in a positive way in the program; intervening in a helpful, tactful manner when parents are behaving inappropriately with their children; recognizing the difference between pleasant conversation and therapeutic counseling, making referrals to the case manager when appropriate; and modeling appropriate child development techniques for parents. Assist on van routes on a regularly scheduled basis. Participate in staff meetings, branch and agency trainings, and other meetings when requested by supervisor. Responsible to comply with the agency's policy and procedure regarding the identification and reporting of child abuse.
